Four Hamsters

I wrote this papper today and it is kind of funny.

Four Hamsters

My name is Jonathan and I was 7 years old when my sister got her very first hamster. It was a little yellowish peach colored ball of fluff. It had two big buck teeth and it was like one month old when she took it out of the cage it was in. there were cages everywhere full with barking, meowing, and chirping. Mikaela bought the hamster for $2.50 as she held it close to her cheek. It was pretty cute I guess but I was more interested in getting home so I could play around with it.
When we got home my sister zoomed out of the car and ran to her room. I followed her as quickly as I can until I got to her room. She started putting the cage together as she was holding her hamster. I couldn’t believe how fast she was putting the easy pieces together as she looked at the instructions pictures and words. Finally after five minutes of waiting she was done. There was a hamster wheel in the middle of the cage and a pipe going up to the top of the cage where a bed was. There was a drinking bottle leading into the center of the cage as well as an eating bowl. After she made sure there were no more pieces left in the box she opened the lockable door to the center of the cage. She put the chubby hamster into the cage and it started to explore its new habitat. Mikaela and I got all excited over the cute hamster as it made its way around the cage.
Mikaela named the hamster Sunshine, because of how bright it was when you looked at it in the sun. Immediately we started having fun playing around with the hamster. I built a maze out of Lego’s and a treat at the end of the maze. We put Sunshine in the beginning of the maze. Immediately the little hamster made its way through the giant Lego maze. We had to help it along the way when it ran into a dead end. Soon after lots of turns, Sunshine found his treat.
We had so much fun that day we did it again the next day after school. We did almost the same thing with Sunshine for the next five months. Around the middle of the sixth month Sunshine died. Mikaela and I cried as we tried to wake up the motionless hamster. We buried sunshine in the desert and put a little gravestone near Sunshine’s grave.
We never forgot about Sunshine as we continued our school life. A year went by until Mikaela went to the pet store again and bought another hamster that was about two months old. He was an old grey looking hamster that had big black eyes. Every time I try to pet it he would bite my finger. It made my finger bleed every time he bit me. We used the same cage that was Sunshine’s.  We did not play with it that much because it always bit us. Mikaela named it coal, secretly I named it chomp. This hamster lasted a lot longer than the other one. It lasted for about a year but then it died in January.  We buried him near Sunshine’s grave that was almost destroyed.
As Mikaela was saying goodbye to coal I commented “We will miss your biting so much”. About two months passed until Mikaela had an Idea of buying two hamsters and she commented that it would be more fun than just one at a time. So Mikaela went to the same pet store and bought a cute blackish, grayish hamster and a Beautiful peach, yellowish hamster. We named the black one Midnight and the yellow one Sunny. Midnight and Sunny were really fun to play with because my sister was right. Two hamsters at the same time were more fun than just one. We played with them when we had nothing to do which was close to everyday. We built bigger mazes and some silly pretend adventure games. These hamsters lasted for the whole year until socks came. When we went to Missouri to see our grandparents there was a stray kitten with black and white fir at my grandma’s house. So Mikaela made a deal with my dad saying “If I get rid of the hamsters do I get to keep the kitten?” My dad said yes but my dad commented “that cat better be good at catching mice or she is leaving when we get home.” So that was that. We said good bye to grandma and pa and headed back home with a hungry cat. Socks was pretty cute and looked harmless for a little while until we headed out to the store with the hamsters in the closet. When we got home socks was in Michaela’s room with the closet door wide open and the cage destroyed. There was Sunny dead on the floor and Midnight missing. My sister was sad as she looked at Sunny’s motionless body. My Dad was pretty impressed when he found out a little kitten got into the closet and found a way to break the cage to get her prey.
That was the last time we ever bought a hamster and I would never forget the poor dead family of four hamsters.

Second Campfire

We had a campfire the other night after a day at Yellowstone. We gathered some firewood from the camp office and we gathered some fire logs to start the fire. When we got outside to start the fire, it started to sprinkle. We had to use an umbrella to keep the fire dry and hot. The fire was little when we started but when Josh and Dan threw in some pine needles that they gathered, the fire grew huge. After the fire was really hot, and when the wood burned down, we threw some steaks and corn on the fire to cook. When the steaks were done, they smelled delicious as we proceeded to nom, nom, nom them. Then when the corn was done we nomed away like typers at a typewriter. When we finished destroying the corn, we got the marshmallows, graham crackers and chocolate out for smores. When we were roasting the marshmallows, we had a contest on who could roast the best marshmallows. Josh was the first marshmallow roaster. He got fourth place as the judges ate his smores. Mikaela was the next contestant, she got thumbs up for third place. Daniel was the next contestant; He won the place for 5th place. Dad was the next marshmallow contestant; He got first place as winner. Mom was the next contestant; she got second place because of her brown marshmallows. Then it was me, I got sixth place because I was the only one who surrendered one of my marshmallows to the fire. I will win next time. This is the end of this camp fire story.
